Your students will love this topic because it is something everybody can relate to, and is something most people are motivated to learn more about. Furthermore, ESL students have identified this language as important because sleep is widely discussed so learning the vocabulary is necessary.
We recommend using this ESL lesson plan on sleep with all B1-B2 level ESL students because there is something for everyone. The lesson plan breaks the topic down into different activities, before introducing the grammar point “modal verbs of obligation”. Our favourite exercise is the “Modal Verbs and Sleep” activity because it allows students to use the grammar and language in an engaging way.
This ESL lesson plan on sleep contains an awesome homework task. Students are presented with an intriguing, short video which gives advice on how to sleep better. They are then presented with a series of questions which allow them to use their newly acquired language. The exercise continues with the theme of the lesson, giving structure through an engaging exercise.
